Nissan has officially unveiled the 2027 Z in the United States, bringing a range of updates that touch both its exterior and interior features while maintaining the sports car’s signature performance appeal. Following the mid-year refresh of Japan’s Fairlady Z, the American market version receives similar enhancements across all trims, with the non-Nismo models benefiting from a refreshed front end that incorporates a new bumper and a split retro grille design reminiscent of the classic Datsun era.
The Z Sport and Z Performance trims gain a new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option, echoing the Unryu Green first introduced in Japan earlier this year. This hue, inspired by the S30-generation Z from the 1970s, is paired exclusively with a contrasting black roof to create a bold, vintage-modern look. Additional subtle changes include the removal of the front Nissan badge, replaced by the iconic Z logo, further emphasizing the model’s sporty identity. Nissan says the redesigned bumper and grille are not purely aesthetic, citing improved cooling and aerodynamics as a practical benefit.
The Z Performance trim sees further upgrades, including redesigned 19-inch forged black wheels, a refined tan interior, and an enhanced 15-watt wireless charging pad. Ride quality and handling are improved thanks to larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers, delivering a more balanced driving experience.
For enthusiasts craving a traditional driving experience, the Nismo variant now offers a six-speed manual transmission, coupled with targeted tuning of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine to enhance throttle response. Nissan has retained its Active Sound Enhancement and Active Noise Cancellation systems, which have been recalibrated to produce a more aggressive exhaust note in Sport mode. The flagship Nismo also borrows front brake rotors from the GT-R for superior stopping power and benefits from a 19-pound weight reduction, optimized front suspension, and a steering rack with 20 percent less internal friction. Inside, the cabin features a new manual gear lever alongside the upgraded wireless charging system.
Across all variants, Nissan has upgraded the fuel tank to maintain consistent fuel delivery during aggressive cornering, ensuring performance remains uncompromised.
The 2027 Z is scheduled to debut publicly at the New York Auto Show next week and is expected to reach dealerships this summer. Official pricing has not been announced, though the outgoing base model started at just over $44,000, while the top-of-the-line Nismo exceeded $67,000.
