Hollywood comedian Jim Carrey sparked widespread speculation about potential plastic surgery after a rare public appearance at the César Film Awards in Paris left some fans questioning his appearance.
Carrey, 60, accepted the 2026 honorary César Award on Thursday, February 26, delivering a brief speech in French. “As an actor, each character you play is like clay in the sculptor’s hands, which you shape to your heart’s desire,” he said. “How fortunate I have been to share this art with so many people who have truly opened their hearts to me.”
Despite the celebratory moment, social media quickly became a forum for fans reacting to his changed appearance. Some users claimed Carrey looked “unrecognizable” and speculated he may have had Botox, cheek fillers, or eye surgery. One X user wrote, “It’s impossible that this is him. Last year, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Millicent Rovelo suggested Carrey had undergone an upper blepharoplasty, a procedure to remove excess skin from the eyelids. “In the most recent video of him, you can see that the excess skin is removed, and that makes his eyes appear larger and rounder,” Dr. Rovelo explained.
Carrey has not publicly addressed the speculation regarding his appearance. Nonetheless, fans continue to focus on the actor’s enduring talent and iconic presence in Hollywood, regardless of any physical changes.
