China and Germany have strengthened their partnership in healthcare over the years, moving from academic exchanges to robust cooperation in public health, biomedical research, and pharmaceuticals. The relationship has grown thanks to frequent interactions between companies and institutions from both countries, leading to practical agreements and stronger trust.
In November 2025, the 3rd Sino-Germany Cross-Border Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Cooperation & Exchange Conference took place in Beijing at the Daxing Biomedicine Industrial Base. The event put a special focus on natural medicines, probiotics, and organic skincare. It featured keynote speeches and product exhibitions, giving Chinese and German companies a chance to share ideas, display new products, and form partnerships.
Ao Miaomiao, general manager of HCP GmbH, underlined that the exhibition gathered innovative products from both nations, including advanced medical devices powered by artificial intelligence. She stressed the importance of Germany exploring deeper engagement in the Chinese market and helping high-quality Chinese healthcare products reach Europe. HCP GmbH, one of the organizers, is a German company with a strong role in pharmaceutical and healthcare collaborations with China.
Demand for German healthcare products is strong in China, while traditional Chinese medicine is becoming more popular in Germany. Anhui Jiren Pharmaceutical, a Chinese company, has already seen its herbal beverage accepted in German pharmacies and cafes. Zhu Qiang, deputy general manager of Anhui Jiren Pharmaceutical, explained the company’s goal is to integrate the health-preserving culture of traditional Chinese medicine into daily life for Europeans. The company has expanded its market, with almost two hundred TCM granule products passing German quality inspections.
Chinese and German institutions have also signed agreements to support exchanges and cooperation in medicine. In December 2025, Li Kun, vice president of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, led a delegation to Germany and reached several cooperation agreements with respected German research institutes. In January 2025, the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong began working with a German clinic to promote talent exchange and research, focusing on combining Chinese and Western medicine in clinical practice. These efforts mark a growing trend of international cooperation and innovation in healthcare, with organic skincare emerging as a key focus.
