A man from Belfast has shared his story of undergoing two hair transplant procedures in Turkey after years of struggling with baldness. Glenn, 39, had accepted hair loss as a normal part of aging, especially as he began losing his hair in his early twenties. Like many men, he sometimes felt self-conscious about his receding hairline, resorting to keeping his hair short or styling it to hide the thinning spots.
The turning point for Glenn came when a friend of his underwent a hair transplant and the results encouraged him to consider the procedure for himself. Glenn said watching his friend’s hair gradually grow back over several months gave him a realistic view of what hair transplant surgery involves, rather than just hearing about it in advertisements.
After researching different clinics, Glenn found the cost of surgery in the UK to be quite high. He expanded his search to international clinics and decided to travel to Turkey, which is known for affordable hair transplant surgeries. He chose the same clinic his friend used and underwent two hair transplant sessions, with a combined cost of £3,550. The procedures involved transplanting a total of 6,200 grafts, with the first session covering 3,500 and the second 2,700 grafts.
Before each surgery, Glenn underwent blood tests and consulted with the surgeon, who carefully marked out the planned hairline on his scalp. Glenn recalled feeling uncertain seeing his new hairline for the first time, as it had been years since he had one. He appreciated the patience and support from the clinic staff. The procedures, which used the sapphire FUE method, lasted about six to seven hours each. Glenn said the anesthetic injections were the most uncomfortable part, but the pain was brief.
Now in the recovery phase, only a few weeks after the second session, Glenn said he is already thrilled with the results. He looks forward to growing his fringe again and is happy that he no longer has a bald spot at the crown of his head. Glenn said he feels more confident and is satisfied with his decision to undergo hair transplant surgery abroad.
