Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch an updated version of its popular Brezza compact SUV, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads in recent weeks. The planned facelift aims to give the Brezza both functional upgrades and subtle design enhancements as competition heats up in the country’s compact SUV market.
One of the most notable changes in the new Brezza facelift is the introduction of a 6-speed manual transmission, replacing the current 5-speed unit. This new gearbox is expected to improve driving comfort, especially on highways, and could offer better fuel efficiency and reduced engine noise during long-distance trips. Many buyers have long hoped for this update, as competitors like the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue already feature higher-ratio gearboxes and advanced turbo engines.
The engine lineup is not expected to change significantly, with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine continuing to provide power. The CNG variant will also remain an option, likely with the same underbody tank layout as before. The proven 6-speed torque converter automatic should also stay available, ensuring flexibility for different driving preferences. The enhancements focus on improving the SUV experience without changing the well-known maintenance reliability and cost-effectiveness Brezza owners value.
On the outside, the heavily camouflaged test models suggest subtle tweaks such as a revised grille, reworked bumpers, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and updated lighting including LED taillights and sleek projector headlamps. Inside, the facelift is expected to bring a larger and more advanced touchscreen infotainment system, new upholstery, and features like ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and ambient lighting.
These changes should help the Brezza close the gap with its rivals by offering improved highway performance while maintaining the strengths that made it a leader in the segment. Pricing is expected to remain competitive, with only minor increases possible for the new features.
