IIT Bombay and QR678®, through its research partner TECCRO®, have announced a new collaboration to develop advanced solutions for hair restoration and skin treatments in India. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the goal of eliminating baldness in India by 2050, focusing on science-driven innovations that are clinically proven and can reach many people.
This partnership brings together IIT Bombay’s strengths in engineering and life sciences with TECCRO®’s experience in clinical research and managing the QR678® platform. A dedicated team of PhD researchers from QR678® will work closely with IIT Bombay faculty and experts, adding to the scientific knowledge and diversity of the project. Their cooperation will include research into dermatology, trichology, regenerative medicine, and clinical testing.
One of the main tasks for the partnership will be the development of human model systems in the laboratory, such as 3D bio-printed skin and hair models. This also includes investigating new Organ-on-Chip technologies that can mimic human body functions on tiny microchips for more accurate testing. By using IIT Bombay’s technical knowledge and TECCRO®’s clinical capacity, they aim to design advanced diagnostic devices and medical technologies for real-world use.
The teams will also focus on new therapies involving stem cells, exosomes, and biomimetic peptides that can help restore skin and hair. They place strong importance on safe, effective, and consistent results that last over time. In addition, the collaboration will allow TECCRO® to continue its research on the IIT Bombay campus using the university’s research facilities and evaluation centers.
The agreement also plans for joint applications for research grants, co-authored scientific papers, technology transfer projects, and support for startups based on new discoveries. The overall aim is to turn the latest scientific advancements into practical solutions for hair and skin restoration that can help people across India and beyond.
