A Married At First Sight reality TV star has shared an unfiltered update just one day after undergoing a hair transplant, revealing severe facial swelling and admitting she was left “traumatised” by the immediate aftermath of the procedure.
Amy Kenyon, 28, a 2024 MAFS bride from Blackburn, took to social media to document her recovery following a £5,000 hair transplant designed to correct her hairline. While the treatment is increasingly popular among celebrities, Amy admitted she was unprepared for how dramatic the results would look in the first 24 hours.
The brunette revealed she had 1,300 grafts taken from the back of her head and transplanted to the front of her scalp. However, just hours later, she was left shocked by the swelling, joking that she looked “worse than Megamind.”
Filming herself while still wearing bandages, Amy told followers: “If I thought I looked like a hot air balloon yesterday, I look absolutely horrific today. My forehead is swollen — look at the size of it.”
Despite acknowledging that swelling was to be expected at such an early stage, she admitted the experience had been overwhelming. “I’m not gonna lie, I’m slightly traumatised,” she said. “I can see why a lot of women are put off having a hair transplant — you really have to get through this part.”
Amy explained that she chose to be open about the process to prepare others considering the procedure. “I’m only on day one, so swelling is expected,” she said. “But if you’re a woman thinking about having this done, you need to take at least a week off work — ideally two. I’m going to be walking around like this for two whole weeks.”
In another clip, Amy turned the camera to show the donor area at the back of her head, where the grafts had been removed. “That’s where they took all the grafts from,” she explained. “I had 1,300 grafts taken from the back and inserted around the front.”
In a follow-up video, captioned that she believed the bandage removal looked “worse than Megamind,” Amy filmed herself taking off the dressing. Holding up the blood-stained bandage, she warned squeamish viewers to look away, adding: “There’s blood everywhere.”
She also joked about the sensation on her exposed scalp, saying: “The back of my head is freezing. I don’t know how all you bald guys cope.”
While the appearance was dramatic, Amy reassured fans that she was not in pain. “I’m not in pain, which is great,” she said. “I just look like Frankenstein. My head is expanded — I know it doesn’t look like I’m going to have a gorgeous hairline right now.”
The reality star also reflected on her long-term relationship with hair extensions, revealing she has worn them for nearly a decade. “If anybody was ever going to struggle with this, it’s me,” she said. “But if I can do it, anyone who’s been self-conscious about their hairline for a long time can do it too.”
Amy’s candid videos quickly gained attention on TikTok, where fans flooded the comments with messages of support. One user wrote: “Looks so sore.” Another added: “It looks perfect — you just have to sit it out. Hope healing is speedy.” A third commented: “A true queen documenting this for us.”
