Ryan Libbey has publicly revealed that he has undergone a hair transplant, candidly discussing the personal reasons behind his decision during a recent episode of He Said, She Said, the podcast he co-hosts with his fiancée, Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson.
Speaking openly on the show, the 35-year-old influencer admitted that while he was not an obvious candidate for the procedure, concerns about his receding hairline had quietly affected him for some time. Libbey explained that although he still had a full head of hair and his confidence had not been severely impacted, the issue lingered in the back of his mind.
“I probably wasn’t the most obvious candidate for a transplant because I do have a lot of hair,” he said. “But I was semi-conscious about my hairline. It wasn’t stopping me from going out or living my life, but it was always there as a thought.”
Louise Thompson, also 35, praised her partner for speaking out, noting how rarely men openly discuss hair loss and the emotional toll it can take. Libbey, a vocal advocate for men’s health, said he hopes sharing his experience will encourage other men to be more open about their insecurities.
“A man losing their hair can be devastating for their confidence,” he said. “It can make them feel less manly and less like themselves. I had a positive experience, and I don’t want men to suffer in silence and let it eat away at them.”
The couple later shared a clip from the podcast on social media, including a post-surgery photo showing Libbey wearing a hairnet and giving a thumbs-up. In the caption, they called for greater honesty around cosmetic procedures for men, writing: “Let’s break the hair transplant taboo. Being self-conscious about your hairline or losing hair is harder than people admit, and it affects more than just how you look—it affects how you feel.”
Despite the reveal, some listeners may not have noticed an immediate change, as Libbey wore a cap while recording the podcast episode. Reactions online were mixed but largely supportive, with many praising his transparency and saying they related to his experience. Others questioned society’s growing reliance on cosmetic procedures, sparking debate in the comments.
Libbey and Thompson, who have been engaged since 2018, are parents to two-year-old son Leo-Hunter. The couple has been open about their ongoing fertility journey after struggling to conceive a second child naturally. Thompson previously survived a near-fatal childbirth experience in 2021 and has since begun IVF treatment.
In recent updates, Thompson shared the physical challenges of the process, revealing she had been taking hormone “trigger shots” and experienced fever, soreness, and exhaustion. Despite the discomfort, she said she was determined to continue the cycle, adding that the thought of having to restart the process was “worse than anything.”
