Amazon Pharmacy has begun offering Wegovy, the first FDA‑approved oral GLP‑1 weight-loss medication, providing patients with a convenient alternative to injections for managing obesity.
The medication, produced by Novo Nordisk, is now available through Amazon’s online pharmacy for both insured and self-paying patients. Insured customers may pay as little as $25 for a one-month supply, while uninsured patients can purchase the pill for approximately $149 per month. Amazon Pharmacy allows users to compare insurance and cash prices side-by-side online, automatically applying applicable coupons at checkout, and offers nationwide delivery, including same-day service in many U.S. markets.
In the coming weeks, the Wegovy pill will also be available at prescription kiosks in select One Medical clinics, expanding accessibility for patients who prefer in-person pickup. Like other GLP-1 medications, Wegovy requires a prescription and a doctor’s evaluation.
The oral formulation, launched this week, contains semaglutide, the same active ingredient in the widely used injectable versions of Wegovy and Ozempic, giving patients an option that avoids injections. The FDA approved the pill in December following clinical trials showing significant weight loss when combined with diet and exercise.
Wegovy is already stocked at over 70,000 retail pharmacies, including major chains like CVS and Costco, and is available through select telehealth providers such as Ro, LifeMD, Weight Watchers, GoodRx, and Novo Nordisk’s NovoCare Pharmacy. Cash-paying patients will soon be able to purchase the starting dose for $149 per month through TrumpRx, former President Donald Trump’s direct-to-consumer platform.
In a bid to lower GLP-1 medication costs, the Trump administration in November reached agreements with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. Through TrumpRx and expanded Medicare/Medicaid access, prices for GLP-1 drugs are expected to drop to about $350 per month, or less for oral versions, with Medicare co-pays around $50—down from list prices exceeding $1,000.
Trump, who has not personally used GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Wegovy or Zepbound, acknowledged in a recent interview with The New York Times that he “probably should.”
Amazon Pharmacy, which launched in 2020 following the company’s acquisitions of PillPack in 2018 and One Medical in 2022, is part of Amazon’s broader push into the U.S. healthcare market. The company has partnered with WeightWatchers and pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly to deliver obesity medications, including Lilly’s Zepbound. Lilly is also preparing to seek FDA approval for its rival oral obesity drug, orforglipron, later this year.
