A 47-year-old man has died after falling ill during a hair transplant procedure at a private clinic in the Black Sea province of Trabzon, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the incident.
The victim, identified as Temel Altuntaş, reportedly lost consciousness while undergoing the procedure on Tuesday afternoon at a clinic located on Gazipaşa Street in the Ortahisar district.
Clinic staff alerted emergency services after Altuntaş fainted during the treatment. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, where paramedics provided initial medical assistance before transporting him by ambulance to Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) Farabi Hospital.
Despite intensive efforts by doctors, Altuntaş could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following his death, Altuntaş’s body was transferred to the Trabzon Forensic Medicine Institution morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have opened a formal investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the procedure and whether any negligence was involved.
The case has raised renewed concerns about patient safety and medical oversight at private cosmetic clinics, particularly those offering elective procedures such as hair transplants.
