A 45-year-old glass worker from Hafeez Baba Nagar has accused a hair transplant centre in Banjara Hills of medical negligence, alleging that he suffered serious health complications after undergoing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy at the clinic.
Based on his complaint, the Banjara Hills police have registered a case under Section 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the clinic staff.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged on Wednesday night, the complainant said he was experiencing severe hair loss when acquaintances referred him to a clinic located on Road No. 14 in Banjara Hills. When he contacted the clinic over the phone, a woman who identified herself as Aanam reportedly told him that the centre specialised in providing the “best Turkey hair transplant” services.
The complainant visited the clinic around 1 pm on December 15. He stated that the receptionist, Mamatha, suggested a six-month PRP treatment package costing ₹1,500 per month. The first PRP session was administered by a lab technician identified as Praveen.
“Within minutes of the procedure, I started feeling dizzy,” the complainant told the police. He alleged that despite informing the clinic staff about his condition, his symptoms were dismissed as minor and he was sent home.
The man further claimed that his condition worsened after leaving the clinic. “From that time onwards, I have been suffering from dizziness, vomiting and numbness on the left side of my body. Due to the negligence of the clinic staff, I have developed serious health problems,” he alleged in his complaint.
Confirming the case, Sub-Inspector P. Naveen said the police have begun a preliminary investigation. “We will issue notices to the clinic management to verify their licences, the qualifications of the staff, and examine the complainant’s medical records as part of the initial probe,” he said.
