The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has exceeded its 2025 health insurance enrollment goal, signing up more than 69,000 residents under its health scheme.
Dr. Baba Gana Adams, Permanent Secretary of the FCTA Health Services and Environment Secretariat, announced the milestone during an event marking 2025 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day in Abuja.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Unaffordable health costs? We’re tired and sick of it!”, Adams highlighted the urgent need to make healthcare both affordable and accessible for all Nigerians.
“Health is not a privilege. It is a right. This year’s theme underscores the importance of making healthcare accessible to everyone. In the FCTA, we take this responsibility seriously,” he said.
Adams credited the achievement to a strategic partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for beneficiary revalidation, as well as a strong community-based outreach program.
“As of November 2025, we have surpassed our target by over 8,000 enrollees. This is commendable progress. Initiatives like these bring us closer to our goal of ensuring every resident has reliable access to affordable healthcare,” he added.
The permanent secretary reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing that financial protection is key. “Our goal is clear: to build a resilient health system that delivers quality care to everyone, everywhere, every time,” he concluded.
