DGSN Launches Health Insurance Reforms to Expand Coverage for National Security Families

by Shreeya

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has introduced a series of reforms to the supplemental health coverage and death insurance system managed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Employees. The measures aim to broaden eligibility and improve the quality and scope of medical services.

A central element of the reform is the expansion of beneficiaries to include groups previously excluded from coverage, notably retirees, widows, orphans, and eligible family members. These groups will now receive the same level of health coverage as active police officers and their families, with all additional costs borne by the Mohammed VI Foundation.

The reforms also strengthen medical benefits, particularly for chronic and serious illnesses. High-cost treatments, in addition to enhanced access to death insurance benefits under specific conditions, are now included. For the first time, several medical treatments and examinations have been added to the official compensation and direct coverage framework for members of the National Security family.

Expanded coverage now includes a wider range of radiological, imaging, and laboratory tests, especially those linked to chronic and life-threatening conditions. Physiotherapy services and certain specialized treatments requiring extended hospitalization have also been incorporated.

To improve service efficiency, the DGSN has reduced the processing time for medical liability files from 48 hours to less than 24 hours. The reform further introduces a direct financial compensation system following the birth of a child, alongside additional social benefits.

Overall, the reforms reflect a commitment to comprehensive healthcare protection for the entire National Security family, encompassing active personnel, retirees, widows, and orphans, while enhancing service delivery and social support mechanisms.
