Blackbird Health, a leading provider of pediatric mental health services, has opened a new clinic in Media, Pennsylvania, marking its first location in Delaware County. This new clinic enhances access to mental health support for children and teens in southeastern Pennsylvania, offering both in-person and virtual care.
Located at 1023 East Baltimore Pike, the clinic started accepting patients for virtual intake appointments and in-office treatment. The expansion is aimed at addressing the region’s ongoing challenges with long wait times and limited access to behavioral health providers. While national waitlists can extend beyond seven weeks, Blackbird Health’s efficient model significantly shortens the time between a family’s request for help and their child’s first appointment.
A Whole-Child Approach to Mental Health
Blackbird Health takes a comprehensive approach to pediatric care, considering how a child’s brain, body, and behavior interact. This holistic model helps identify the root causes of mental health challenges rather than simply treating symptoms. Services at the Media clinic will include diagnostic evaluations, therapy, psychiatry, and assessments for conditions such as ADHD and autism.

Children seeking autism evaluations are seen within four to six weeks—well ahead of the typical 18-24 month wait at other providers. This quick response helps reduce stress for families and educators, who often face long delays when trying to find trusted specialists.
Blackbird Health also accepts most major insurance plans, making its services more accessible to a broader range of families in the region.
How It Works: A Two-Step Process
To ensure the best care for each child, Blackbird Health uses a two-step approach. The first step is a New Patient Evaluation, where a clinician takes up to 90 minutes to understand the child’s needs and conduct initial assessments. This session looks at how the child’s brain, body, and behavior interact, and may include recommendations for additional testing, such as speech or autism evaluations. In many cases, therapy can begin immediately after this visit.
The second step is the Treatment Plan Visit, where the child’s diagnosis is reviewed, and a tailored treatment plan with measurable goals is developed. Therapy and other interventions are integrated into this comprehensive plan.
Expanding Access to Care
With locations already in Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks counties, as well as Allentown, Blackbird Health hopes to close the gaps in pediatric mental health services in Delaware County and beyond.
