The Leonard High School Bass Fishing Team made a strong showing at the Regional Fishing Tournament held at Possum Kingdom Lake on May 2, 2026. Seniors Tucker Martin and Hunter Wren rose early on Saturday with one goal in mind: to reel in top catches.
By the 3 p.m. weigh-in, the duo had landed four keepers totaling 9.41 pounds. Out of 222 teams competing, only the top 67 advanced to the state level. Tucker and Hunter secured 45th place, earning their spot at the Texas High School State Fishing Tournament on May 30–31 at Lake Texoma.
Their performance reflects a season of dedication, skill, and teamwork, and the pair are now preparing to represent Leonard High School at the state level.
Coaches and community members praised their hard work and commitment to the sport.
“Congratulations to Tucker and Hunter for an outstanding season,” said the team advisor. “They’ve represented Leonard with determination and sportsmanship, and we wish them the best of luck at State.”
The State Tournament at Lake Texoma promises to be a challenging competition, featuring the top high school teams from across Texas. Martin and Wren will look to continue their impressive performance against some of the state’s best young anglers.
Leonard High School’s bass fishing program continues to grow in popularity, offering students opportunities to develop competitive skills while fostering teamwork, patience, and a love for the outdoors.
