Audi’s upcoming RS Q6 Sportback e-tron has resurfaced in testing at the Nürburgring nearly two years after it was last spotted, signaling that the high-performance electric SUV coupe could make its official debut later this year.
Positioned above the SQ6 Sportback in Audi’s electric SUV lineup, the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron is expected to deliver more aggressive styling and significantly greater performance. Prototype models reveal a redesigned front fascia with a larger and more angular lower intake, honeycomb mesh inserts, and distinctive triangular detailing with horizontal bars.
The performance-focused EV also appears to feature a unique front surround inspired by Audi models sold in China, complete with vertical air curtains at the outer edges. Several of the front-end openings are expected to channel cooling air to an upgraded braking system, which includes noticeably larger brake calipers.
Additional exterior enhancements include slim front fender vents, lightweight model-specific wheels, and a revised rear bumper paired with a sportier diffuser. The diffuser incorporates a prominent central channel and sculpted outer elements where quad exhaust outlets would traditionally be found on combustion-powered RS models.
While the cabin remains largely hidden, the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron is expected to retain Audi’s latest digital cockpit layout, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment display, and a 10.9-inch passenger-side screen. RS-specific upgrades should include sport seats, carbon-fiber trim, and exclusive badging.
Technical specifications have yet to be confirmed, but the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron is widely expected to build on the SQ6’s dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and 100-kWh battery pack. The SQ6 produces up to 510 horsepower with launch control, though the RS version is anticipated to deliver a substantial increase in output.
Industry expectations suggest Audi may borrow heavily from the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric, its platform sibling on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. In that application, the dual-motor system generates up to 630 horsepower and 833 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph.
If Audi adopts similar performance figures, the RS Q6 Sportback e-tron could emerge as one of the brand’s quickest production SUVs to date, further expanding its growing portfolio of high-performance electric RS models.
