Kia has introduced the all-new 2027 Seltos, its smallest SUV, now entering its second generation with a fresh design and upgraded features. The new model brings a bolder, boxier look inspired by the larger Kia Telluride, adding more passenger and cargo space while enhancing off-road capabilities. The redesigned Seltos aims to compete strongly in the subcompact SUV market against rivals like the Chevrolet Trax, Mazda CX-30, and Volkswagen Taos.
Under the hood, the 2027 Seltos offers multiple powertrain choices. Buyers can select between a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a more powerful 190-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which is exclusive to the high-end X-Line trim. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Kia plans to release a new hybrid variant later in 2026, featuring a 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive.
The new Seltos rides on Kia’s updated K3 platform and features driver-selectable modes including Eco, Normal, and Sport. All-wheel-drive models come with a multi-terrain selector offering Snow, Mud, and Sand modes to improve off-road performance. Ground clearance has been increased up to 8.1 inches on certain trims, making the SUV more capable in rough conditions.
Inside, the cabin has been modernized with inspiration drawn from Kia’s larger SUVs like the EV9 and Telluride. The dashboard integrates two large 12.3-inch digital displays for infotainment and driver information, providing an intuitive user experience with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Passengers benefit from increased legroom due to a stretched wheelbase, along with wider hip and shoulder space for comfort. Ambient lighting offers up to 64 customizable colors, while an available panoramic sunroof adds to the airy feel of the interior.
Cargo space has also been expanded, offering about 28 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 64 cubic feet when folded down. Rear passengers enjoy an adjustable bench seat that reclines up to 12 degrees for added comfort on longer trips. USB-C ports are plentiful throughout both rows to keep devices charged.
Safety remains a priority with numerous driver-assistance features included as standard equipment. These include automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, and driver attention warning systems. Optional advanced features such as adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system enhance driver confidence.
Kia continues to offer one of the best warranties in the industry for the Seltos lineup, providing a limited warranty of five years or 60,000 miles and an impressive powertrain warranty covering ten years or 100,000 miles. The redesigned 2027 Kia Seltos is expected to reach dealerships by summer 2026 with conventional engines first and the hybrid arriving toward the end of that year.
