Bradford has seen the largest year-on-year decrease in car insurance premiums in the Leeds-Sheffield region, according to the latest data from Confused’s Price Index. Average premiums in the city fell £115, an 11% reduction, bringing the typical policy to £952. Despite this drop, Bradford remains the area with the highest average premiums locally.
Matt Crole-Rees, motoring expert at Confused, noted that while car insurance prices are at their lowest in some time, the overall trend is becoming less predictable. “Data shows prices are creeping up for some drivers and stalling for others,” he said. “This could mean that increases are on the horizon, particularly with rising fuel and vehicle tax costs adding further financial pressure for motorists.”
Crole-Rees emphasized the importance of proactive measures to secure savings. “Any further reductions in insurance premiums can be hugely beneficial in the long term,” he said. “This is why shopping around is more important than ever, not only to lock in the best price now but to ensure drivers are getting the most competitive deal available.”
Timing, he explained, plays a critical role in obtaining the best rates. “Our data shows that 28 days before your renewal is the ‘sweet spot’ for paying the least for insurance. Leaving it until the last minute can result in higher premiums, so being organised and arranging coverage early can make a real difference.”
As motorists in Bradford navigate these shifting insurance trends alongside rising fuel and tax costs, careful planning and comparison shopping remain key strategies for mitigating overall vehicle expenses.
