Subaru is making a bold move into the electric adventure vehicle market with the introduction of the 2026 Trailseeker, an all-electric SUV designed for drivers who crave off-road exploration. Built on Subaru’s signature all-wheel-drive platform, the Trailseeker combines a dual-motor system delivering approximately 375 horsepower with an estimated 280-mile driving range.
The SUV is engineered for rugged versatility. It offers 8.3 inches of ground clearance, Subaru’s X-Mode traction system, and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, making it suitable for weekend explorers and light overlanders seeking the capability the brand is known for.
Practicality is also a key focus. The Trailseeker provides ample cargo space for gear, roof compatibility for racks or rooftop tents, and fast-charging technology to support extended road trips. While traditional body-on-frame trucks still dominate serious expedition builds, Subaru’s electric SUV suggests that EVs are becoming a viable option for backcountry and trailhead adventures.
Subaru enthusiasts will have the chance to see the Trailseeker in person this year as the company returns as a title sponsor for the 2026 Overland Expo series. The Camp Subaru exhibit will serve as a central hub for attendees, featuring off-road workshops, live recordings of the Subie & YOU! podcast, live music, limited-edition giveaways, and exclusive Subaru gear.
The automaker will also showcase a broader lineup of adventure-focused vehicles, including the 2026 Crosstrek Wilderness, Outback Wilderness, Forester Wilderness, and Forester Hybrid.
