The 62-year-old pop icon, best known for his hit “Karma Chameleon,” made these revelations in his autobiography, “Karma: My Autobiography,” published not long ago. In the book, Boy George discusses how years of struggling with his weight and being in the public eye influenced his decisions.
Boy George explains that after several hair transplant procedures, he decided to have a tummy tuck, describing it as “the most painful thing” he has ever experienced. He chose the surgery to remove excess skin after losing nearly 100 pounds through a metabolic balance diet. This diet focuses on eating unprocessed foods to help control blood sugar and reset metabolism. The singer said that his love for food made controlling his appetite difficult, but he believes he has finally managed it, thanks in part to medication.
To maintain his weight loss, Boy George initially started taking Ozempic, a drug for type 2 diabetes that is used off-label for weight control. Later, he switched to Mounjaro, another diabetes medication known for its effectiveness in regulating appetite and blood sugar. Boy George remarked that these drugs have become popular for weight loss, especially among people who have lost a significant amount of weight recently.
He candidly describes in his autobiography how he dealt with perceptions about his body and the pressures from media and public scrutiny. Boy George joked about his tummy tuck scar, saying he tells people he had twins by Caesarean. He also shared his views about aging, stating he feels more comfortable and confident now than he did before.
Boy George detailed some of the side effects associated with medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro, which can include nausea, headache, digestive issues, and, in rare cases, more serious complications such as kidney problems or gallbladder issues. Despite these risks, the musician says the surgery and medication have helped him feel healthier and more confident.
