Police in Anna Nagar have arrested three men accused of running an unregistered hair transplant clinic and employing unqualified staff. The clinic, operating under the name “Mr. Hair Clinic” on Third Avenue, reportedly carried out numerous hair transplant procedures over the past ten months without proper authorization.
Authorities conducted an inspection led by Dr. Meenakshi Sundari, Joint Director (Law) from the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services in Chennai. Following the inspection and based on her complaint, Anna Nagar police registered a case against those involved.
The men taken into custody were identified as Jagvir Singh, 33, from Arumbakkam, Hardeep Singh, 24, from Anna Nagar, and Jaffer Siddique, 27, from Anna Nagar East. Two of the suspects are natives of Punjab, and the third is a native of Vellore. Investigators found that the men performed hair transplant procedures and administered anaesthesia to patients, despite lacking the necessary medical qualifications. One suspect held only a diploma in anaesthesia, while another had studied only up to Class 12.
During the inspection, officials discovered that a hair transplant operation had been carried out on a patient named M. Chandrasekhar without a qualified doctor present. Another patient, Rohit, was advised by Chandrasekhar. Police also revealed that a homeopathic doctor, Vijayalakshmi, provided medical advice regarding hair transplants at the clinic.
The investigation concluded that the clinic employed individuals without proper medical education, putting clients’ safety at risk. Anna Nagar police stated the three staff members deceived the public by failing to follow medical regulations and endangering lives. Legal proceedings are now underway against them.
