Renown Health has introduced a new confidential mental health program, Code Phoenix, tailored to healthcare professionals and first responders experiencing behavioral health crises.
Available at the Renown Crisis Care Center in partnership with the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, the service provides a safe, private option for short-term mental health stabilization. The program is specifically designed for individuals who frequently face high-stress situations, trauma, and life-or-death decisions.
Leaders at Renown Health say Code Phoenix was created with a deep understanding of the emotional and physical toll on first responders and healthcare workers. Dr. Takesha Cooper, chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, emphasizes that the program aims to eliminate barriers to seeking help, such as concerns about confidentiality or fear of judgment.
“This program is built to offer privacy and respect from the very first phone call through the entire care process,” Dr. Cooper says.
Dr. Rahul Mediwala, CEO of Renown Medical Group, notes the timing of Code Phoenix is especially significant as stress levels often rise during the holiday season. Many first responders and healthcare workers carry burdens they may not share, and Renown wants them to know they don’t have to face trauma and exhaustion alone.
The Renown Crisis Care Center, located at 480 Galletti Way, already offers mental health stabilization services for adults in crisis.
