A new partnership aims to expand mental health care access for California’s Central Valley school staff and their families through free, online services. Lavender Psychiatry and Legacy Health Endowment (LHE) announced the collaboration, which covers 19 service ZIP codes in Stanislaus and Merced Counties and extends to eligible staff members and their adult family members.
The program provides virtual access to psychiatric nurse practitioners for therapy, medication management, or a combination of both. The service is designed to fit demanding school schedules by delivering care remotely and at no cost to eligible participants.
“We know that the well-being of our students starts with the well-being of our educators,” said Jeffrey R. Lewis, President and CEO of Legacy Health Endowment. “Teachers, school staff and their families are the bedrock of our community, and the stresses they face today are immense. Partnering with Lavender allows us to deliver timely, compassionate, and high-quality support directly to these essential professionals and their families when they need it most.”
Lavender Psychiatry emphasizes a person-first approach, prioritizing kindness, convenience, and clinical excellence. Co-founder Brighid Gannon, DNP, PMHNP-BC, said the team aims to make mental health care easy to access and unintimidating, so educators can focus on flourishing inside and outside the classroom.
The initiative builds on a pilot project and highlights a shared commitment to expanding sustainable health services in the region. Eligible district staff— including teachers, administrators, custodians, and support personnel— and their adult family members in the 19 ZIP codes can learn more and register through a program portal linked via their district administration.
