Doctors often opt for antihypertensive drugs that are safer for asthmatics, such as calcium channel blockers (e.g., amlodipine) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs, e.g., losartan), which do not typically affect the airways.
Conversely, for asthma treatment, the goal is to achieve control with the lowest effective dose of corticosteroids, preferring inhaled forms over systemic ones whenever possible to minimize systemic side effects.
