Scores of officers from the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) gained important health knowledge during a Men’s Health Symposium at the Old Montrose Police Lecture Hall on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
Collaboration Between Police and Medical Community
The event was a joint initiative between the RSVGPF and the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association (SVGMA) as part of national observances for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
Expert-Led Presentations on Men’s Health
A team of medical professionals from Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, led by Dr. Jasmine Ellis-Davy, guided the session. The delegation also included Drs. Rohan Deshong, Naja Peters, Mark Cumberbatch, and Realyn Burke, bringing extensive expertise in men’s health and preventive care.

Dr. Deshong delivered a presentation on overall men’s health, emphasizing routine check-ups, balanced diet, exercise, and early detection to prevent chronic illnesses. Dr. Cumberbatch followed with a detailed discussion on prostate cancer, covering causes, symptoms, types, treatment options, and the essential role of early screening.
Interactive Learning and Officer Engagement
The officers actively participated, asking questions and seeking advice from the medical experts. Dr. Ellis-Davy praised the RSVGPF for prioritizing their officers’ health, stating: “When men, especially those in demanding professions like policing, take proactive steps to safeguard their health, it strengthens not only their well-being but also the wellbeing of the communities they serve.”
On-Site Health Screenings
After the presentations, the medical team conducted on-site health screenings for the officers, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, as well as the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test—a critical tool for detecting early signs of prostate cancer.
Promoting Health and Prevention
The symposium reinforced the life-saving importance of early detection and highlighted the RSVGPF’s ongoing commitment to the health and wellness of its officers as they continue to serve the nation.
