Philadelphia has been named the seventh most stressed city in the United States, according to a new report by WalletHub.
The financial services firm analyzed over 180 cities across the country. The study looked at several key stress indicators, such as average weekly work hours, unemployment rates, and divorce rates.
“Some stress is out of our control, due to issues with family, friends, or employers,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. “But where you live matters.
Cities with high crime, poor economies, weak public health, or traffic problems tend to raise stress levels. When moving, people should think about mental well-being, not just job prospects.”
Philadelphia ranked higher on the stress scale than major cities like Washington D.C., Chicago, and New York.
According to the report, Detroit, Michigan, topped the list as the most stressed city in the U.S. Meanwhile, South Burlington, Vermont, was ranked the least stressed.
